4th of July Celebrations

This weekend we celebrated a wonderful 4th of July weekend with family and friends.
The weekend started off rainy and yucky but thankfully by the time we went to CT it wasn't continuously raining. I love seeing Zach with his cousins! They are a crazy wild bunch and we couldn't contain the kids indoors, that the minute it was clear the kids were outside playing in the pool!
Our town was having a carnival with a local petting zoo, so Roo decided to give rides another chance. We went to feed some sheep which Roo got a huge kick out of it!  Roo went on the carousel and freaked the f*ck out. So we bought some zeppoli and all was well in the Krohn household :)
We decided to go again the next day with Roo's cousin Abby. The petting zoo wasn't there, but mama and Roo decided to go on the big slide and he wasn't that in love with it--I think he was shocked that we were going so fast.

Summer Lovin...Roo and I are having a blast!

This Summer is going to fly by, I just know it!! July 4th is next weekend and each weekend is a party, BBQ, play dates! Roo is having a great time!
Roo will be 19 months old in 2 weeks--I have to say this age is currently my favorite. He is a lot more active and independent that if he climbs on things I don't have to hover over him (not that I ever did that). He is enjoying a lot more things which means I am able to take him to more new and fun places.
We took him to The Stamford Greek Fair a couple weeks ago. To say he loved it, would be a lie lol. He was curious and we could of actually saved $15 worth of tickets and just bought $5 worth and walked around. But it was a lil test to see if Sesame place or something equivalent could be done this Summer. Jordan and I both agreed we will hold off on Sesame Street until next Summer.
Memorial Day we decided to go to Stepping Stones and while we were there we purchased a membership (totally worth it) So we have been going there almost every other week. It's an easy way to cool off without staying in the house and they have an outdoor area  plus a nice playground across the street if one would like to make a whole day out of it.
Roo has been playground hopping! I try to look for a playground that ideally is fenced in or if its not, that it is a safe distance away from a main road. (Makes watching Roo easier for Mama)
Jordan and I took Roo to a local spray park. It met all our "needs" fenced in, water, free, Zach had the freedom to run around, can I stress water again. Perfect to do on a Summer day and Mama doesn't have to uncomfortably try to fit into a bathing suit--score!

We have a ton of new playgrounds, parks and places we have to hit before the Summer end :)

Mother's Day

So what does this Mama want/end up getting for Mothers Day? I like to make sure I tell exactly what I want from my husband (don't want another easel incident..whole 'nother story). I went so far to tell him "weeks" in advance.
Mama alone time from being able to sleep in a little. Go out without Zach (trying on clothes with a toddler is a bitch) My all time favorite was actually be able to do morning routine without a kid throwing toilet paper down the drain and rushing to put my makeup on. That itself was a gift.
Alone time is needed for everyone not just Mama's. It's a little "freedom" that is nice to experience from time to time. So I will gladly reciprocate the good deeds come Father's Day.
Now my Mothers Day was almost over, I was getting Zach ready for bed (now, my kid is an active, won't sit still kinda boy) routine is usually bath, clothes, teeth and playing with his toys, with usually one book. He picked out his favorite trucks book, such a boy :) and I read it as usual and instead of wanting to go down and play, he wanted me to read it over and over. He would stop to give me a kiss and he would "read" the book to me. Seriously we read past his bed-time which I didn't mind at all. Best gift ever--especially since he isn't that affectionate..I ate it all up and loved it!

Breakfast with Elmo

Since Roo is almost a year and a half old, he thought it was about time that he meets Elmo in person!
I was debating whether or not to take Roo to Elmo Live! At the Stamford Palace Theatre. I wasn't to thrilled about the show times, the duration which was (2 hours) Can't keep this kid still for a short car ride sometimes. The price was a lot for the fact that Roo might not fully enjoy.
So the next option was an hour long, $12 , open space meet and greet with Elmo.
We were able to meet with some friends as well. They had Cheerios and Pancakes for families which was perfect. Snacks are a way too Roo's heart :)
With music and Elmo it was enough to tire the Roo and the minute we got home he gave us a good Nap! Which means a successful morning!!!

Greenburgh Nature Center

This month we decided to take a little family trip to The Greenburgh Nature Center. We met up with Aunt Liz as well! It was one of the first full week of wonderful Spring weather this season! So of course, what does an almost 1.5 year old do? Go outdoors.
Set off of Central Ave. in Greenburgh, NY you would never expect such a great outdoor woodsy area with all the busy cars and the stores that parade up and down the very same street.
There is a pretty good size parking lot. With ample front main entrance parking, which for me is a must with a running, active toddler. They have many trails which I think would be great when he's really older. I get paranoid with ticks and stuff so Ill hold off on that panic attack. We were able to see a bald eagle which was very cool, a chicken, sheep--ya know the usual farm life. I cant wait for Roo to see a horse, that would be awesome to see the reaction on his face.
They had an awesome playground. With 3 separate slide areas. One met for toddlers, Another one for the in-between stage and the one for adventurous little sprouts. Swings--which my Roo doesn't care for, that's just too sedentary for my speedster. We went on 2 of the slides there, he probably would try to go on the big boy one if it wasn't for the fact that his poor Mama, Dada and Aunt Liz was probably sweating and ready to call it a day.
We ended the day with a super quick bite to eat at Boston Market and by quick, I mean inhaled that corn bread up.
Another great month with a new adventure!

Yay for Spring

The night before I was shocked that it was hailing and that Roo and I woke up to snow on the ground.
Feeling Bah-humbug about the weather, because I hate the cold especially when it is Spring! Roo decided he wanted to meet up with his Aunt Laura and Abby at the mall.
We walked around, looked at the great sales. Toyed with the idea of doing Easter pictures since..hey we were there and there was no line at all. But we weren't decked out in our Pastel Awesomeness, so we decided to save that for another day :)
Left the mall and it was surprisingly sunny and warm that Roo thought it would be a great idea to break in his new kicks and go to the playground!
Loved it, walking around, going on the slide by himself (with the very cautious, apprehensive mommas hand to guide him) In fact he didn't even want to leave. Dinner time was approaching so crying Roo and all we had to leave. After dinner Sun was out, and Roo and I took a stroll around the block before it got too cold :)
Days like this makes me so happy. Seeing the Roo outside playing (where every kid should be) is great! Brightened my mood for sure!!

March Madness

This Month's resolution was a trip to the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, CT. It was great because Roo was able to meet some new friendly faces, Liam and his sweet momma Amy.
We walked around and saw all the fishes, some sharks, otters, and a seal show! Roo loved the seals..poor thing was trying to go into the water like he does at home :/
We all went to the cafe afterwards and had a quick bite.
Tip: I would definitely get a membership, go with someone who has one or even split one up with a family member who has kids. Because $19 for an adult and its free for kids up to 3 years  old is a tad bit pricey especially if you are there for only a couple of hours.
I took a crazy amount of videos but yet no photos. Bad planning on my part.

What a month of Birthdays!

February and March happen to such big Birthday months for our Family! From my mothers, sister in laws and a good handful of friends/their babes as well.
We cancelled/rescheduled a couple already when are whole family was hit with what felt like the "plague".
But fortunately we were able to enjoy some and plan some outdoor dates this week.
Starting with Tot town on Friday, which is Roos all time favorite place to be! I think being cooped up all winter has taken a toll on Zach. I personally can be home all day and be content, but not our little busy bee.
Then Saturday we went to Kidville for Ryan's 4th Birthday. Great time!
Then today we ended off with a nice lunch with great friends. It's hard to catch up and make plans with a little one. But when we eventually do it is nice to be out and see people 😄
I think we have 2 more Birthdays to go! (Knocking on wood) that the germs stay at bay.

The Children's movement center

So like last month, I like to do my resolution last minute. Why not? This month Roo and I hit The Children's Movement Center in New Milford, CT. It is located right next to my sister in laws place, so I totally see this being a place where we will tell the husbands to bring our rugrats to while we do our "necessary" momma runs 😉
It's a pretty big location. Ideally I think it's great for kids that are at least 2 years old. The place had a huge floaty train contraption that I personally wanted to go in haha! Roo was way too young for that.
We headed to the front that had 2 huge swings. Roo loved to go on with the guiding hands of momma. Then we went to the next area that had a whole bunch of mats and usual gymnasium set-up. Roo had a blast just running around.
The back room had this whole play gym set up, which I don't think he would be ready for until at least 3. But right next to it they had a ball pit (I didn't really let him go in it..that kinda stuff skeeves me out) then a whole bunch of "backyard" toys.
On the total other side they have rock climbing and a zip line. So the place is geared for older kids. But honestly we easily spent 1.5 hour for $10 with him just running around touching the "new" stuff.
They had benches and tables. So you can easily make an afternoon of it. Bring your child after nap-play-have snack time- then play again. Tiring the lil monsters will happen!
I would totally bring Zach again. I would probably wait till next Fall though. I think he would be able to enjoy the area more!

What a crazy weekend

Sitting here at work with hot tea, tissues and honey. I have or actually my family has been sick the past week.
It all started with Roo having a cold that turned into an ear infection. Horrible little things, I will be very happy when he "outgrows" them. Then of course Mama wanted to join in the fun and I am stuck with this cold since Wednesday that is just not leaving, I am actually contemplating to go to the Drs. tomorrow to make sure I don't need a z-pack or something like that. Now my husband who had a cough in the beginning, is actually sick. Usually when someone is sick we can piggyback on someone to help us, but with both of us. I just hope we are all better by the time Roo is done with his antibiotics because another round of this is just wayy too much.
I use to be the person who was the person who never got sick. Now that Roo was born I have been sick literally every other month. When do I start getting immune to that?? Soon I hope.

Roo is Mr. Serious when stuck with an ear infection :(

On a happier note. Spring is officially here in a month. I personally am wayy too happy. I'm just hoping the warmth comes soon.

January Resolution

I am all about doing things last minute. My previous post I wrote about My New Years Resolution being something new and excited for my son and I to do each month. Something age appropriate and well though out.
This month we went to Tot Town in Brookfield, CT. I have been looking at the place since this summer and going there today I am actually glad we waited until he was 1 to go.
Each area had its own little theme: dress up, hair and makeup, construction, grocery store and a little area specific for little crawlers (which is great if you have 2 kids and still want to bring your little one there). In the middle is an open play with slides and a little train track for 1-3 year olds.
Zach favored the construction and makeup/hair. The slides and other big toys he will be able to fully enjoy probable by the fall (which we will def. be back)
Low-key wonderful way to spend a cold afternoon, something I won't really do during the Summer since I like spending every minute outside when it is warm.
But this was a good start to the many more months of new adventures for Roo and I.

10 loves...

I'm the "grass is greener on the other side" "half empty" yada yada kinda gal. I can easily make a list of top 10 things I hate/dislike. It being a new year why not spice things up and do my personal top 10 loves as of right now... Haha just for my own personal humor I started this 8:34pm on Sunday

10) My job: I'm good at it, hardly any stress (only stress that I put on myself) Little to no DRAMA with people respectful to others. Wouldn't mind a raise, but who doesn't ever say that.
9) My hair: something vain would just have to be on the list. I have damn good hair and anyone who says not honestly has not looked at my hair. Other than my damn grays (which a trip to anthonys can fix) I can legit fall out of bed and my hair would look better than most broads.
8) babies- all of them, they use to annoy me. But every time I see one now I instantly think of my Roo and I smile. Even when they are throwing a tantrum with there mom, I can't help but smile. Since I have a little monster myself.
7) My apple gadgets. I don't know what I would do without them. Jordan bought me an iPad when I was on bed rest and I am on it everyday. I would actually be sad if I couldn't have it.
6) My health: I don't know if you can love that. But I value my health even before I had a kid. Don't get me wrong I now get sick almost every other month. But besides a bad cold, I am so happy that I have my health!
5) BRAVO- should literally name my next child after Andy Cohen. I love all of the shows! It's a guilty pleasure that I indulge in on a daily basis. I'm actually watching RHOA right now!!
4) DEALS- I think this is my inner 85 years old spirit. I love shopping, but what I love more is getting an amazing deal. It's a rush, this might be borderline a sign of someone who hoards too.
3) FUCKING SUSHI!! Lawrd Jesus!  I can have this everyday! Especially sushi from buddha near my job! I'm salivating while thinking of it!
2) Summer/vacationing  I can live in 90 degree weather forever. I love the heat! I love everything about going on vacation--I always plan trips in areas of heat! Not dealing with bringing a jacket on a vacation. I love packing, believe it or not. I love planning I love everything!
1) My Family!!! That's no surprise to anyone who knows me. I love them to death. My husband is hardworking and the amount of passion and loyalty the man is amazing. Sasha who I call my first child, she annoys the shit out of me but the amount of love that dog gives me is ridiculous.  Zachary-he is my #1, my everything. He makes our family complete.

End 9:15 that wasn't as long or hard as I expected it to be. Pheww
